Miss Intercontinental South Africa 2018 Bianca Rautenbach will carry the hopes of Mzansi when she competes in the first major pageant of 2019.
Contestants of the 47th annual Miss Intercontinental pageant were presented to the members of the press at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila on January 10 where the finalists were selected.
Among them were 20-year-old Bianca, who is studying education at the University of Pretoria with the hope of one day opening a homeschool education centre for children with learning difficulties.
Bianca also supports an NGO that helps support the victims of child abuse. She won the Miss Jnr South Africa pageant in 2017.
Miss Philippines Karen Gallman has established herself as the early favourite to claim the crown when she was named Media favourite and
was also awarded H&H Standout Beauty when the finalists were presented to the press this week.
Bianca describes herself as follows: ” My name is Bianca Rautenbach and I am 20 years old. I am currently in my second year, studying towards my BEd Seniorphase and FET degree at the University of Pretoria.
“I matriculated at Monument High school on the West Rand in 2016 and received 2 distinctions for LO and English. I was a part of my school’s Matric Council.
“I started doing modelling at the age of 9, just to boost my confidence as I was extremely shy. I soon realized that this is my passion. I joined a pageantry school and fell in love with this sport. My dream is to hopefully one day soon represent my country overseas.
“Even though I love competing in pageants the best aware I ever received was during our Woman’s Month in August 2016, where I received the YOUNG DIGNITARY Award from the Gauteng Government Legislature. This award goes to a scholar who makes a difference in their community.
“I am a hardworking person who does not believe in quitting, I believe that winners never quit, and quitters never win.
“I have a love for children and would do anything to help them. I believe that they are the future of tomorrow, if we do not take care of our children today, the future will not be very bright. I am a volunteer at Tswhane Baby Haven where I get the opportunity to make a difference in a small child’s life, by giving them love and attention. The smiles that I get in return is the most rewarding thing I have ever seen. “
The final pageant takes place on January 26 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
