A 107-year-old great-great grandfather is hoping to break his fourth world record by becoming the oldest person to star in a soap.
Chesterfield-born Jack Reynolds is set to star in Hollyoaks, but will only be given the record if his performance is deemed to be good enough to make the final cut.
Teasing the challenge on Good Morning Britain, actor Jacob Roberts – who plays Damon Kinsella – said he’s planning to pull out all the stops to shine on screen alongside Jack.
“I’ve got to be on my A-game today. I know Jack’s a professional so I’m going to be a bit intimidated but I’ll make sure I’ll do it,” he told the show.
Guinness World Records Adjudicator Mark McKinley is on site for the filming and explained “It’s not just enough for him to simply film the scene.
“His performance has got to be good enough that he actually makes the final cut and is broadcast on the show.”
The results will be revealed on tomorrow’s GMB, and if successful it will be the fourth record Jack’s broken since turning 100.
He celebrated his 106th birthday by becoming the oldest person to ride a zip wire, braving a 1,312ft-long plunge for charity.
In April 2017 he became the oldest person to ride a rollercoaster and he marked his 104th birthday by becoming the oldest person to get a tattoo.
He has credited a drop of whiskey in his morning tea with keeping him youthful and explained on his JustGiving page that he wants to use his birthdays to make a difference.
“It has become somewhat of a tradition that on my birthday I use my new age to help raise money for worthy charities,” he said.
