Danniella Westbrook is petrified she’s going to die within days as she’s due to undergo a hysterectomy next week to prevent the spread of her cancer.
As the Sunday Mirror exclusively revealed, the ex-EastEnders actress was diagnosed with the disease after collapsing in agony , and doctors found a clot the size of a tangerine in her womb.
After initially thinking she could be pregnant, they gave her the devastating news that she was actually battling the same cancer that her friend Jade Goody died from nine years ago.
Now Danniella is gearing up to have her uterus removed in a bid to fight her illness.
But pals claim the actress is terrified she won’t wake up from the operation.
“Dan has this gut feeling that she won’t outrun this,” a friend told the Star On Sunday.
“We’re telling her medicine can work wonders these days and she has caught it early, but she just has this feeling even the hysterectomy will be too much for her and she’ll die on the table.”
As a result, Danniella is said to be desperate to make up with her estranged teenage daughter Jody Jenkins, who lives with her dad – and Danniella’s second ex-husband – Kevin.
While the star has received the forgiveness of her elder son Kai, 22, for his traumatic childhood, 16-year-old Jody has been less happy to kiss and make up.
Danniella herself admitted on Loose Women in January 2017 that Jody refused to speak to her until Dan could prove she was completely clean of drugs.
A friend said: “She told me she hasn’t seen Jody recently.”
Danniella told the Sunday Mirror she’d missed cervical smears for years and turned once again to cocaine when she was first diagnosed.
“There is part of me that thinks I would rather just be ill and not know about it – to just get on with life,” she admitted.
“But then I thought about the kids and I thought that is a selfish way to be. I’ve tried to commit suicide before but getting this diagnosis has made me realise I don’t want to die.
“I want to live and sort out my health. I know I have to fight, I know I have to get up and battle it.”
She went on: “I went to Benidorm and then went to Marbella and got very drunk.
“I used cocaine, it’s the first thing I would pick up because I wanted to numb everything and get drunk. I got through two grams over two days.
“I shouldn’t have done it and it’s not right, there is no excuse to take Class A drugs. At the end of the day I realise I am an addict and I was despairing.
“I told Kai, my son, I was doing it and he said, ‘Mum, you need to come home now. This is a big deal’.”
Danniella said she now wants to live for her family and overcome the disease.
