“Fake” Melania Trump rumours have resurfaced with people convinced that a body double is holding the president’s hand in recent pictures.
Rumours of a “decoy” First Lady have been around for months – and now a new photo has started the speculation once again.
The latest snap was taken while Melania joined her husband Donald Trump during a presidential visit to Alabama, USA, after the area was hit by tornadoes that killed 23 people.
US President Trump and his wife paid visit to a victims’ memorial, which was covered by local news reporter Sally Pitts of WSFA 12 News.
Once Ms Pitts shared a picture of the couple on Twitter, social media users were quick to point out something unusual about Melania.
The tweet has received thousands of likes, retweets and comments.
Several social media users pointed out that the woman in the photo appears to have a different chin, height, hair part and cheek structure to the First Lady.
Others argued that the couple being photographed holding hands was more evidence of a body double.
This comes as the 48-year-old is known to avoid her husband’s attempts to hold her hand at a number of public events in the past.
Meanwhile others believe that Melania’s body language appeared to be more open and relaxed than normal during her Alabama visit.
Twitter users commented on that her posture and the way she walked were slightly off, adding more fuel to the fire.
Previously, speculation was rife after the US President and First Lady made an appearance at Columbus, Ohio to visit the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in August last year.
The president and his wife disembarked from an aircraft at Joint Base Andrews with Melania sporting a white skirt and polka-dot shirt.
Curious video footage of the visit was watched by 2.7 million people after it was posted to Twitter .
Dubious viewers claimed that FLOTUS had been substituted before departure by someone with entirely different facial features, mannerisms and height.
“She isn’t melania. Who is she?”, one asked.
Another said: “Not even close, unless FLOTUS has gained weight and had her cheekbones removed.”
“If he is trying to pass off a body double as Melania he failed miserably”, another added
He claimed Barack Obama was born in Kenya, not the United States, and demanded he produce his birth certificate.
He said he saw Muslims cheering as the Twin Towers came down on September 11.
And he claimed millions of people voted illegally in the 2016 US presidential election (which he won).
But the President found himself at the centre of this Melania conspiracy theory – and it’s gathering traction.
Actress and comedian Andrea Wagner Barton shared a status on Facebook in 2017, questioning if the First Lady had been replaced by a lookalike.
She wrote: “Is it me or during his speech today a decoy ‘stood in’ for Melania??”
She shared a video, filmed in the White House garden, in which Trump appears to go to great lengths to emphasise it is his wife.
The President is heard to say “my wife, Melania, who happens to be right here”.
The post has been shared more than 100,000 times, sending conspiracy theorists into a frenzy.
Some social media users offered ‘evidence’ that the woman standing with Trump has subtle physical differences to the ‘real’ Melania Trump .
Other’s have referenced the President’s apparent slip-ups and contradictions regarding his wife’s whereabouts.
While many have seen the funny side, others have become convinced by the body double theory.
One user wrote: “Oh my lord. That is totally not her. I am freaking out.”
Another added: “Wow! That is totally not her! Look at that harsh contour on her nose! I’ve studied her face … totally doesn’t look like her to me. What the heck is happening in this world!?!”
