Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade have welcomed a baby girl via surrogate.

She had previously revealed she had suffered ‘eight or nine’ miscarriages in an attempt to have a much-longed-for baby with the NBA star.

The couple made the happy announcement on Instagram on Thursday.

The 44-year-old actress opened up about her struggle with infertility in her book We’re Going to Need More Wine.

In her book Gabrielle revealed: ‘I have had eight or nine miscarriages,

‘For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle.’

Dwyane, 36, missed his Miami Heat game on Wednesday against San Antonio citing ‘personal reasons’ and it wasn’t long before the athlete revealed on social media the reason he’d been absent.

The couple took to their respective Instagram pages and posted pictures of the moment they met their baby girl with an accompanying cute caption.

‘We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that, our miracle baby, arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the most loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl! #onelastdance’.

The couple married in 2014 and the Bring It On star wasn’t sure she wanted children straight away.

‘I never wanted kids,’ she told People. ‘Then I became a stepmom, and there was no place I’d rather be than with them.’

Gabrielle helped raise Dwyane’s sons Zaire, 15, and Zion, 10 from his previous marriage to Siovaughn Funches who he divorced in 2010, as well as his nephew Dahveon Morris, 16.

The sportsman also has another son, Xavier, three, who was conceived with another woman when he had split from Gabrielle.

The US star first started dating basketball player Dwyane in 2009 and tied the knot in August 2014 following a brief break in 2013 due to work commitments.

Gabrielle also opened up in her book about how difficult she found it being asked by other women whether she wants kids.

‘For so many women, and not just women in the spotlight, people feel very entitled to know, “Do you want kids?”

‘A lot of people, especially people that have fertility issues, just say “no” because that’s a lot easier than being honest about whatever is actually going on. People mean so well, but they have no idea the harm or frustration it can cause.’

She said: ‘Once a month I look like I’m in my second trimester because I’m bloated. It leads to the questions and it leads to the rumors and anytime I go into a doctor’s office I feel like I’m a member of SEAL Team Six undercover because I don’t want people to speculate.’
