Dancing On Ice champion James Jordan is undergoing a major operation after he ‘lost the use of his arm’ following a partial dislocation of the shoulder ahead of the final.
The former Strictly Come Dancing professional had swapped dance shoes for ice skate and proved equally adept at dancing on ice.
But his win was all the more remarkable due to the fact that the 40-year-old was patched up from early on in the competition, when he suffered a hernia.
Add to that arthritis in the hips, tennis elbow and stiff knees, what James didn’t need was a brutal fall on the ice in the run up to the final.
Painkillers got him through on Sunday but now he is facing a major operation, after losing the use of his arm.
James told The Sun: “When I woke up on Sunday morning I said to producers, ‘I’m out. I’m not going to be able to perform because of my shoulder.’ I could not lift my arm.
“Sharon, the show’s physio, is the only reason I got to perform on the night. I said to her, ‘Do whatever you can to get me through those three dances and I’ll love you for ever’, and she did.”
There is only one place James is heading now and that’s a hospital, as he confirmed, “I’m going to need surgery.”
The outspoken dancer was a surprise winner of the final as he pipped the show’s favourite, Love Islander Wes Nelson , to take the trophy after a public vote.
It was a shock to James, who thought his bad boy image and celebrity feuds would be enough to turn people off from voting for him.
Speaking to The Sun, James said: “Everybody thinks I’m this outspoken, arrogant person, but I just like winding people up. I’m actually quite a good person.
“I was over the moon just to have got to the final. Maybe as I’m getting a bit older I’m getting softer.”
What is for certain, there will be a certain amount of ‘feet up’ prescribed after the operation as he recovers from surgery.
