Joy-Anna Duggar & Austin Forsyth: We Guess It Would Be Okay to Have a Daughter

Hollywood Gossip

It’s been just over a year since Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth welcomed their first child, a son named Gideon.

And, as they haven’t adjusted their worldviews since the days of horse drawn carriages, the entire Duggar clan was overjoyed that Joy had welcomed a boy — who can one day earn money — as opposed to a girl, who can only spend that money and make more babies.

The Duggars practice a brand of patriarchy seldom found outside ot the Middle East or the Trump White House.

From a young age, girls are taught that procreation is their primary reason for being and if they get raped, it might be their fault.

In the early stage of their lives, their fathers decide how they’re allowed to dress.

Once the Duggar daughters are grown and married off, it’s their husbands who decide their dress code.

In this world, women are treated as second class citizens from cradle to grave — so it’s no surprise that expectant couples generally hope for male offspring,

But in a recent post on TLC’s website, Joy and Austin opened up about the possibility of welcoming a daughter — and they unconvincingly claimed they’d be cool with it.

Austin concedes that he “always wanted a boy first” growing up, but he says he’d also “be just as happy if we had a girl, and hopefully one of these days we will.”

For her part, Joy says she’d be totally okay with having a girl one day, too.

Of course, she goes on to reveal that she loves every second of raising her son precisely because he’s a boy.

“He’s a manly boy and I get to teach him how to play in the dirt and do all kinds of stuff that boys do,” Joy said, quickly moving on from the question of how she’d feel about raising a girl,

Aside from the weirdness of describing a toddler as “manly,” how is it possible that the frequently tomboy-ish Duggar daughters don’t realize girls might like to play in the dirt, too?

Of course, we suppose it’s not surprising that this crew is so resistant to solid evidence.

After all, these are the same people that stuck their heads in the sand with regard to the Josh Duggar sex scandals for over a decade.
