There was always going to be some tension as the Love Island cast got back under one roof for the Christmas special – but things got very heated between one pair of former lovers it’s been reported.
The festive special sees our favourite Islanders reunite after months apart, during which time several couples have gone through bitter break-ups.
And according to Zara McDermott, there was one almighty row when Ellie Brown laid eyes on her former beau Charlie Brake.
Zara claimed Charlie ‘verbally attacked’ her mate Ellie on the show, which airs on ITV2 on Monday.
She told The Sun : “I can’t say too much, but tensions did run very high.
“I was so mad when he split with Ellie and I was even more mad after the Christmas Reunion.
“As a best friend, when someone is attacking them, you want to go in and defend them and say “how dare you say that”‘ she added.
While co-star Laura Anderson also revealed she was enjoying a night out with Ellie when Charlie broke up with her on Instagram.
Laura described how Ellie had broken down in tears when she noticed Charlie had posted online: ‘Just to inform you all, Ellie and I have decided to part ways. I wish her all the best.'”
Just days later Chelsea boy Charlie was then linked to the daughter of New Zealand billioniare Steve Owen.
Then he was pictured enjoying a cosy night out with reality star Ferne McCann.
While a heartbroken Ellie sparked romance rumours took to her Instagram with a video her kissing Joey Essex.
The reunion show will also see the series winners Dani Dyer and Jack Fincham on camera for the first time since their very brief break-up.
Dani confirmed she’d split with her boyfriend of six months on Instagram before they were united days later – leading some critics to accuse them of being together for ‘commercial reasons.’
This has been quashed by Dani though, as she insisted that their love was real and that they weren’t ‘in it for the money’.
The fight back against those knocking their relationship began when Jack posted a sweet black and white photo of the couple in each other’s arms, on Instagram.
He tagged girlfriend Dani in the caption, accompanied by, “Yo little guy.”
Dani, who is the daughter of EastEnders actor Danny Dyer, was quick to reply with, “Love you baby.”
She followed this instantly with the cutting remark, “oh wait wait maybe I shouldn’t say that because we together for money apparently??”
Dani didn’t leave it there either, as she told Jack’s 2.6 million Instagram followers: “Yeah tbh I should get paid for picking up your pants…”
