After a rocky few weeks, Love Island’s Alex George has delighted viewers by finally finding romance with brunette bombshell Alexandra .
But not everyone is happy with him.
Former contestant Zara McDermot has branded him ‘selfish’ as she accused the NHS doctor of persuading her man Adam Collard to remain in the villa when she was elimated.
Zara and Adam had only just coupled up on the show when she was chosen to leave by their fellow islanders.
Viewers saw Adam, 22, wrestle with his emotions as he weighed up leaving the villa with his lady love or staying in the show with the potential to meet someone else.
In the end the Geordie hunk decided to stay, leaving Zara in floods of tears.
But according to Zara, Adam would have left with her it wasn’t for Dr Alex’s meddling.
In an interview with Mail Online she said: “I like Alex, but he was one of the main reasons why Adam didn’t leave when he could have. Alex was one of the main people that convinced him not to leave and I think that was quite selfish of Alex to do that.”
She then added: “Alex was trying to keep Adam in because that’s his mate, but not thinking, “Well, actually, this is Love Island and he’s found someone he loves, so why shouldn’t he [go]?”
“That’s the thing that disappointed me,” she said.
Adam agreed with her, but defended his friend ,as he said: “Alex had my [best] intentions at heart, but I didn’t tell him how real I was with Zara.”
Despite Adam staying in the show to couple up with Daryelle Sergeant, he was taken back by Zara when he came back to the ‘real world.’
The pair have since picked up where they left off, going on dates, meeting each others parents and even making their relationship official.
Love Island continues week nights on ITV2 at 9pm
