Pep Guardiola says he is not planning to watch the Premier League blockbuster clash between Manchester United and table-toppers Liverpool tomorrow.

The Manchester City boss watched his side overpower a valiant Crystal Palace team 2-0 at Selhurst Park tonight.

Two quick goals in three minutes from Gabriel Jesus and David Silva saw City reduced Liverpool’s lead at the top of the league to five points.

The Reds’ game in hand is against their bitter rivals at Old Trafford tomorrow and Guardiola will be hoping for a home victory.

But the Spaniard says he won’t be tuning in to watch and will instead be sitting down to study Serie A side Atalanta, who are City’s next Champions League opponents.

“I have to see (our next opponents) Atalanta,” Guardiola replied coyly when asked if he will watch title rivals Liverpool in action.

“As always good. We played good, created a lot of chances. They are always so strong for the second ball,” he continued while reviewing the Cityzen’s performance.

“Unfortunately we could not convert the enough chances we had but it was an important three points after the international break.

David Silva doubled Manchester City’s lead soon after Gabriel Jesus had put them ahead

“They were I think one point below, so they are having an incredible season. Hopefully we can start from here and continue our good performance. Their keeper made a lot of saves but hopefully we can be more clinical.”

The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has faced criticism for fielding an starting XI without a recognised centre-back.

But Guardiola was proven correct in his decision as City kept their first top-flight clean sheet in almost a month.

“Our build-up was quicker because they have more intelligence and they pass the ball so well because they are central midfielders,” he said of his makeshift central defensive pairing of Fernandinho and Rodri.
