A major search is underway for a pilot and passenger after a light aircraft crashed a mile short of its runway – but police have been unable to locate the plane.
The crash, which happened near Beverley Airfield in Yorkshire, was reported earlier this evening at 7.30pm.
Now a search is underway involving HM Coastguard, Humberside Police, Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Humberside Fire & Rescue.

Humberside Police said in a statement that both people on board the aircraft are thought to be safe and a search of the area to locate the plane is under way.
The families of those on board have been told of the crash and are helping to locate them, as are members of the local community.

A spokesman for Humberside Police said: ‘A light aircraft is reported to have crashed one mile short of the runway of Beverley airfield near Leven in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
‘The incident was reported to us at 7.30pm.
‘Emergency services are conducting a search of the area to locate the plane and its occupants, a pilot and one passenger, who are thought to be safe.
‘Their families are aware and are assisting the emergency services with their investigations.
‘At this stage of the incident we cannot provide any further details while the search and investigation continue.
