YouTube star PewDiePie has finally married his long-term girlfriend and fellow YouTuber Marzia Bisognin in a sweet ceremony at Kew Gardens in London, eight years after they began dating.
Theirs was a modern romance in many ways – beginning with a chance online chat that saw their relationship blossom long-distance.
Marzia was first introduced to PewDiePie – real name Felix Kjellberg – in 2011 after her best friend began sharing his videos with her, telling her she must watch “this idiot playing video games”.
After being throughly enthralled by his witty sense of humour, Marzia emailed him telling him she thought he was funny.
The struck up an online friendship that soon morphed into a romantic long-distance one, with Marcia living in Italy and PewDiePie in Sweden.
PewDiePie began saving money in order to fly to Italy to spend time with his new lady, making multiple trips over just 12 weeks.
The pair fell madly in love, and within months, the Italian student abandoned her studies to move to Sweden to be with him.
In 2012, the couple moved to Italy to live with Marzia’s parents and shortly after, Marzia launched her own YouTube channel ‘CutiePieMarzia’, focusing on fashion, beauty, makeup, DIY, books, movies, vlogs, haul, and video gaming.
The following year, they relocated to Brighton in England, where they have lived ever since.
PewDiePie and Marzia have two pugs – Edgar and Maya – as well as a hedgehog named Dogy, who all make frequent appearances on their social media accounts.
The pair announced their engagement in April 2018, with PewDiePie proposing during their trip to Yokohama, Japan.
PewDiePie and Marzia’s relationship has often been described as “harmonious” with media outlet The Globe and Mail claiming her “calm personality balances out Felix’s general wackiness.”
