In the long-lost world before YouTube and Spotify, everyone knew the faces of hit singers because they were there on Top of the Pops each week.
From the Rolling Stones to David Bowie and Kate Bush, generations of chart-toppers were beamed in to our homes so often they became part of the furniture.
But 13 years after the weekly show ended, Radio 2 DJ Trevor Nelson fears most of us would struggle to pick the stars of the last decade out of a police line-up.
He said: “I was at a Quincy Jones concert and he had lots of guest singers.
“Up popped Jess Glynne and a few people didn’t know who she was – they knew her songs but didn’t know the singer.
“Generations past, it wasn’t just young kids who knew… everyone did because they had seen them on telly. It’s a shame.”
So would you know Jess, who has had seven No1 singles, if she walked down your street?
Find out if you’re down with the kids by putting names to the faces of some of the most successful pop stars of the past 10 years.
