The Portuguese forward was given a red card by German referee Felix Brych in the 29th minute for an incident involving Valencia defender Jeison Murillo.

The decision seemed harsh and was slammed on social media. Ronaldo was being tracked by Murillo in the penalty box and aimed a small kick at his opponent. Murillo instantly fell to the ground and, after consulting his assistant on the goalline, Brych sent Ronaldo off.

Ronaldo dropped to the turf in disbelief and was seen sobbing was he walked down the tunnel. Shame, guys. It’s rough being cheated, hey.

Commentators, though, were less than convinced. And they weren’t afraid to make it known while dissecting the incident.

Those who like to indulge in a little bit of schadenfreude, however, might feel that Ronaldo got it as good as he gives. Known for being pretty theatrical with his on-field antics, Ronaldo has, on more than one occasion, exaggerated a fall to the turf to have a decision go his way.

Ronaldo will miss Juventus’ next game in Group H, which is at home to Young Boys on 2 October. The Portuguese forward completed his move to the Italian giants during the recent transfer window. He scored his first goals for the club over the weekend.
