Simon Cowell has unearthed another amazing talent on America’s Got Talent and his Golden Buzzer act is as emotional as they come.
Tyler Butler-Figueroa is still only 11 years old but in his lifetime he has battled leukaemia and bullying at school before the small matter of mastering the violin.
Tyler from North Carolina melted hearts with his moving story and he told AGT judge Julianne Hough ahead of his audition, that he had only been playing the instrument for three-and-a-half years.
He started playing as a distraction from school bullies who had targeted him when he was undergoing rounds of chemotherapy treatment, which led to his hair to fall out.
Tyler had been diagnosed with leukaemia at the age of four.
Spotting a violin at school, Tyler decided that this was what he wanted to focus on playing.
He said: “I would just practise in my bedroom and the more I did it the better I got.
“When I play the violin, he helps me forget the bad stuff.”
Simon Cowell looked gobsmacked throughout and he described Tyler, who is in remission, as “an extraordinary young man.”
Cowell continued: “We hear too many stories about people being bullied. But I can tell you one thing, most people are bullied because they are better than the people who bully them.
“I think you have such amazing talent, such personality.”
With that he pressed down the golden buzzer and Tyler’s life will be changed for ever more.
