South Africa News

A singer named Selkii from South Africa recently wowed the judges on NBC’s The Voice in the US.

The singer who is from SA, recently performed on the Voice’s new season in the US, while covering Macy Gray’s ‘I Try’. On Gig Masters, it says Selkii is an acoustic singer guitarist who uses a Looping Pedal to create multiple layers in her live song arrangements.

“She’s a walking jukebox and has playlists for any event or crowd and is also available as part of a DUO act for weddings and events.”

On The Voice, she eventually got two chair turns, from Maroon 5’s Adam Levine and country singer, Blake Shelton.

“That is an instant victory for me. My wife is from Namibia,” said Adam.

“Congratulations,” responded the singer who is living in Orlando, Florida at the moment.

“You know I’ve never been to South Africa,” said Blake. “And I like to imagine that over there you are ‘country’. Because I’m looking at you with the hat and you have the acoustic guitar. I’m fascinated by you as an artist. You’re definitely the complete package. I’ve been doing this show for a long time, so has Adam, the only difference is I have won this show twice as more times than Adam.

“I’d love to be apart of your journey here on The Voice and in South Africa when I get to open for you there someday.”

When it comes to picking a coach, the video does not reveal who she eventually chooses. But South African fans of the US version of The Voice can catch it on M-Net DStv channel 101 on Sundays at 09:00.
