All the latest news, gossip, rumours and done deals as the summer transfer window opens
A new centre-back is high on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s priority list at United with Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly and Leicester’s Harry Maguire both options. It won’t just be incomings at Old Trafford, however, with Paul Pogba a high-profile target for Real Madrid and Alexis Sanchez on his way out with Inter Milan and Juventus fighting it out for his signature – if he drops his wage demands. Liverpool could be active too as they look to go one better after failing to win the Premier League title by just a single point. Champions Manchester City are always big players in the market and could go big with the prospect of a potential transfer ban looming.
We’ll have all the latest throughout the day here.
Both Manchester clubs are battling to sign Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes.
United, however, also want the player and may yet offer more than City, though won’t meet his €100m release clause.
David Neres could be a new target for Chelsea with Luka Jovic going to Real Madrid.
The Blues have a good relationship with the 22-year-old’s agents who also represent David Luiz.
The Colombian defender, 32, is attracting attention from Everton and Watford as he’ll be available on a free transfer this summer.
Chief executive Ivan Gazidis is behind the decision, as he would prefer not to have too many over-30s in the squad.
Manchester United’s search for young talent continues as club representatives have met with the parents of 15-year-old Rayan Cherki.
Cherki, an attacking midfielder for Lyon, is being monitored by clubs all over Europe including: AC Milan, Juventus, Bayern Munich, Ajax, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
West Ham have also expressed their interest in West Brom striker Salomón Rondón.
The Venezuelan, who spent the season on loan at Newcastle, is available for £16.5m after the Baggies failed to gain promotion to the Premier League.
West Ham are close to signing Porto striker Moussa Marega.
The Hammers had tried to sign Marega last summer but to no avail, now after six goals in seven in the Champions League it looks like the move is on.
Arsenal are ready to pay the release clause for Greece international Kostas Manolas.
Unai Emery will hope that the 27-year-old will be the missing link to bring some stability to the Arsenal defence.
Ajax star Hakim Ziyech will leave “when a top club comes” according to director Marc Overmars.
The Moroccan winger, who scored 15 goals in the Eredivisie and five in the Champions League this year, is available for around £25m.
Overmars says that they’ve “promised” Ziyech a good transfer and Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are interested.
Everton want to sign the Beşiktaş captain, 26, who joined from the Gunners in 2012 and has won two league titles in Turkey but recently found himself consigned to the bench.
Valencia, Marseille and Lazio are also interested in the Turkey international, who may be available for €6-7m.
United are also apparently among the sides interested in signing Atlético Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.
They claim that United may be able to land the World Cup winner providing they do so before July.
Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen could be on his way to Manchester United.
The 30-year-old is a regular starter for the Netherlands but has only made two appearances in La Liga this season.
23-year-old Silva, who’s currently out on loan at Sevilla, is worth £26m.
Silva is represented by Jorge Mendes’ GestiFute, so this could well be a go-er.
Newcastle, Wolves and Crystal Palace are monitoring the Nigerian’s situation as Spezia play their first game of the Serie B play-offs this evening.
If they don’t manage to win promotion Okereke is sure to leave with his club asking for around £8m.
Tottenham are one of the clubs interested in Boca Juniors centre-mid Agustín Almendra.
Boca are apparently waiting for the Argentine to play in the Under-20 World Cup before a deal is made with any potential suitor, with Napoli offering around €25m.
Nice are interested in signing Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
The World Cup winner has only scored twice in the league this season and, at 32, may be ready to return to Ligue 1 seven years after leaving Montpellier for Arsenal in 2012.
Ralph Hasenhüttl is looking to reunite with winger Ademola Lookman.
The Southampton manager worked with the 21-year-old during his loan spell at RB Leipzig in 2018 and may be ready to offer £20m to bring him to St. Mary’s.
He’ll have to fend off interest from Leipzig as well as south coast rivals Bournemouth to land the Englishman.
Matthijs de Ligt is apparently open to a move to Manchester United.
A rebuild at Old Trafford built around the centre-back appeals to the 19-year-old.
It would certainly be an impressive signing if it goes through with Europe’s biggest clubs going for the Ajax captain and United having to settle for Europa League football next season.
The Everton striker, who is currently valued by his club at around £65m, is being lined up to replace either Julian Draxler or Ángel Di María.
That price-tag could prove a sticking point, though, with the French champions looking at a much lower figure.
