Localized flooding is expected in places along the southern and western parts of KwaZulu-Natal and in the south-eastern parts of the Eastern Cape, as well as the south-eastern parts of the Western Cape.

Severe thunderstorms are expected over the Highveld and escarpment areas of Mpumalanga.

Special weather advisories

An intense cut-off low is expected to affect the Western Cape on Sunday into Monday. The public is advised that heavy rain and flooding is expected over the Garden Route, Overberg District and Breede River Valley as well as along the Wild Coast.

Weather forecast and UV index for all provinces

Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm with isolated showers and thundershowers.

UVB sunburn index: Low.

Mpumalanga: Cloudy in the east with morning fog patches over the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm but cool over the Highveld. Afternoon isolated showers and thundershowers except over the Lowveld.

Limpopo: Morning fog patches over the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm.

North-West Province: Warm in the east, otherwise partly cloudy and hot with isolated showers and thundershowers.

Free State: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with scattered showers and thundershowers, but isolated in the west.

Northern Cape: Cloudy in the west at first with morning fog patches along the coast, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers. It will become cloudy with isolated evening showers and thundershowers over the southern High ground where it will be cool. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh south-easterly to southerly.

Western Cape: Fine and warm in the west, otherwise partly cloudy and cool, but cloudy along the south coast and adjacent interior with rain and showers. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the north-eastern interior from afternoon. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong south-easterly to easterly along the south coast.

UVB index: Extreme.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Morning fog patches south of the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool with scattered showers and rain but widespread along the coast. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Morning fog patches along the escarpment, otherwise cloudy and cool with widespread showers and rain but scattered in the north. The wind along the coast will be fresh to strong easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal: Cloudy and warm with widespread showers and thundershowers in the south-west otherwise scattered, but isolated in the north-east. The wind along the coast will be gentle to moderate south-westerly becoming moderate easterly to north-easterly in the afternoon.

UVB index: Low.
