Severe thunderstorms with heavy downpours leading to localized flooding are expected over the north eastern interior of the Eastern Cape, the eastern parts of the Free State, south-eastern parts of the Northern Cape, over KwaZulu-Natal as well as over the south-eastern Mpumalanga.

Weather forecast and UV index for all provinces

Gauteng: Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers but isolated in the north

UVB sunburn index: Low.

Mpumalanga: Partly cloudy and warm, but hot to very hot over the Lowveld with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered over the Highveld.

Limpopo: Fine and hot to very hot, becoming partly cloudy in the afternoon with isolated showers and thundershowers in the extreme south.

North-West Province: Partly cloudy and warm to hot with isolated showers and thundershowers, but scattered in the west and south.

Free State: Partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers, but widespread in the east.

Northern Cape: Cloudy at first and cool along the coast where morning fog is expected, otherwise partly cloudy and warm to hot but very hot in the central parts, with isolated showers and thundershowers in the east. It will be scattered in the south east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly.

Western Cape: Fine in the west with morning fog along the coast, otherwise cloudy and warm to hot becoming partly cloudy in places over the interior with isolated afternoon thundershowers over the Central Karoo. It will be cool along the south coast and adjacent interior with isolated showers. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh southerly to south-easterly, becoming strong along the west coast.

UVB index: Extreme.

Western half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and rain along the coast and adjacent interior, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with scattered showers and thundershowers in the north and extreme east. The wind along the coast will be moderate to fresh westerly, but easterly east of Cape St Francis.

Eastern half of the Eastern Cape: Cloudy and cool with scattered showers and thundershowers south of the escarpment, otherwise partly cloudy and warm with widespread showers and thundershowers. The wind along the coast will be Moderate to fresh north easterly.

KwaZulu-Natal: Morning fog over the interior, otherwise cloudy and warm but cool in the south-west. Scattered showers and thundershowers are expected but widespread in the south and west. The wind along the coast will be Moderate southerly to south-easterly along the south coast otherwise easterly to north-easterly.

UVB index: Moderate.
